PRESS RELEASE: THE FIXER TO SCREEN AT THE OSCAR®-QUALIFYING HOLLYSHORTS FILM FESTIVAL’S “SWEET 16”

THE FIXER will screen virtually November 12, 2020 exclusively on Bitpix

October 28, 2020 (Los Angeles, CA) — The team behind THE FIXER is thrilled to announce that their Crime, Action, Thriller will screen in competition at the Oscar®-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival. The annual festival saw over 6000 submissions for their “Sweet 16” year and will take place virtually between November 9-15, 2020 on the new streaming platform Bitpix.

“I’m always looking for good stories. Sometimes the plot presents itself before the character, and at other times, the character evolves before the story, which was the case for The Fixer. I was eating lengua tacos at a local Mexican stand in Los Angeles, thinking about family, acceptance and forgiveness. My wife is Mexican, and as a Caucasian of European descent, I had experienced first hand the intricate process of acceptance into a large ethnic family. Then I wondered, could an outsider be accepted into a mafia family? And with that, the character of Jack Cross was born.” — Michael Schilf (writer/director/producer of The Fixer)

The Fixer is a crime, action, thriller about an extorted Mafia enforcer Jack Cross who must partner with the femme fatale hired gun who murdered his wife in order to save his daughter and liberate himself from a sadistic LA crime boss.

Starring Jesse C. Boyd, Veronica Diaz Carranza, Vincent van Hinte, and Danny Trejo, The Fixer will screen on Nov. 12, 2020 at 10:00pm PST during the Crime Scene Block.
